Groundwork in Claude and ChatGPT
Connect your Groundwork account to Claude or ChatGPT, then ask about any U.S. site in your own words. The assistant runs Groundwork’s reports for you and writes up what they show.
The address to add
https://www.groundworkdemographics.com/mcp
Claude
Add Groundwork to Claude, or do it by hand: in Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, choose +, then Add custom connector, paste the address above and choose Add. Then choose Connect, log in to Groundwork when asked, and choose Allow.
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds it first: Organization settings, then Connectors, Add, Custom, Web, with the address above. Everyone else then finds Groundwork under Customize, then Connectors, and chooses Connect.
ChatGPT
In ChatGPT, turn on Developer mode in Settings, then add a new app with the address above. Log in to Groundwork when asked and choose Allow. A Business or Enterprise workspace’s admin can add it for the whole workspace.
What it costs
The same actions as the site: a site report or a market report is one action, and comparing sites is one per site. Asking the assistant again about a place it ran in the last 12 hours costs nothing, and so do checking your actions and listing business types. A search on the Groundwork site doesn’t carry over: the assistant’s first report on a place is one action. The assistant writes its answers with its own AI, so nothing else is charged.
Things to ask
- “Run a Groundwork site report for collision repair at 1500 Polaris Pkwy, Columbus, OH, and tell me how crowded it is.”
- “Find independent auto repair shops within 10 miles of Hartford, CT, where spending per shop is highest.”
- “Compare these three sites for tire shops at 3 miles, and say which two are most alike.”
- “How many Groundwork actions do I have left?”
Disconnecting
Remove Groundwork from the assistant’s connectors. To cut off every connection at once, use “Sign out everywhere” on your account page; this signs out your browsers too.
Places
Give a full street address with its city, state and ZIP code, or a ZIP code. For a town or a city, the assistant passes Groundwork its latitude and longitude; Groundwork doesn’t look up place names for assistants.
What Groundwork sees
Only what the assistant sends us to run a report: the places and business types it asks about. We never see your conversation. See the privacy page.
